Additional Safe-T-First Services

Organisations not only require complete training solutions but also additional services to cover the vast array of requirements health and safety policies need. At Safe-T-First, we can help keep you covered with:

Health and Safety Policies

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (HSWA)  requires that anyone employing five or more persons must Prepare a written statement of policy. Working with Safe-T-First brings a common sense approach to developing a health and safety policy relevant to your small business, covering your legal requirement and keeping your staff and customers safe.

Principle Designer Support

A Principal Designer is the designer with control over the pre-construction phase of a project. This is the very earliest stage of a project from concept design through to planning the delivery of the work. With our trained Principal Designers working closely with clients and Principal Contractors, you can rest assured that we have all you duties under CDM 2015 under full control.

Health & Safety Inspections

Safe-T-First can assist any type of business and organisation that requires Health and Safety Inspections to be undertaken at their workplace or specific areas, also ensuring compliance with all current HSE legislation related to Health and Safety within the workplace. Our Health and Safety inspections covers all work areas and physical parts of the premises, along with assessment of current documentation and processes.

Fire Risk Assessments

Controlling fire risks is an important part of managing a business or property. In order to be able to protect against the risks of fire, the first step is to identify these risks and this is where a fire risk assessment comes in. A legal demand for all ‘non-domestic’ premises, fire risk assessments (or FRAs) are a snapshot of how protected any given property is to ensure the safety of its occupants in the event of a fire.

CHAS/Construction Line Applications

CHAS is a Health and Safety Accreditation Scheme which allows Local Authorities and other organisations to determine that your business meets the minimum standard required under the scheme. The main purpose of the scheme is to avoid repeat applications by Suppliers and Contractors to become approved as Local Authority suppliers and to improve Health and Safety in small and medium-sized businesses.

ISO14001/45001 Implementation

Covering ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management). Helping you protect your environment and reputation. It is often more efficient to combine the two systems (EMS and OHSMS) into one, sharing the common clauses and procedures. We have considered this when creating documentation packages to simplify the implementation for an organization.

Competent Person Services

Quite simply, it is a requirement of the Health & Safety at Work Regulations to appoint someone with the necessary training, experience and knowledge to help you manage health and safety within your organisation. In addition to the legal requirements, you may have been asked to provide evidence of your competent person as part of the tender process. Or perhaps you are seeking SSIP accreditation through CHAS, ConstructionLine or another trade body. Safe-T-First can help with what you need.

Risk Assessments

As any expert will tell you, forward planning is an integral part of keeping people safe. Quick and decisive responses in times of emergency can minimise health risks and injury, whereas solid planning – by identifying and mitigating risks in advance – can prevent them from happening at all. In times of emergency, the difference between being proactive and reactive could even end up saving someone’s life. This is just one of the reasons why proper risk assessments and emergency plans are so important, and integral to maintaining a safe workplace environment.

Method Statements

More and more installers are being asked by their clients to produce a method statement as part of their Health and Safety policy or for larger projects, under the CDM Regulations. A Method Statement is a document detailing how a particular process will be carried out. It should detail the possible dangers or risks associated with your particular part of the project and the methods of control to be established, to show how the work will be managed safely. Here at Safe-T-First we can help you construct or amend a Method Statement to meet your requirements.

COSHH Assessments

In a COSHH assessment from Safe-T-First, we will identify and control hazardous materials and comply with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) requirements. Every year, thousands of workers are made ill by hazardous substances, contracting lung disease, such as asthma, cancer and skin disease, such as dermatitis. Health problems caused by substances used at work are preventable. The COSHH Regulations 2002 place a duty on all employers to control hazardous substances in the workplace so that they do not cause ill health. We can help you to identify and control hazardous materials by carrying out a COSHH assessment.

CDM Services

The Construction, Design and Management (CDM) Regulations are set out by a HSE (Health and Safety Executive) with the aim to help improve health and safety in the industry. Our CDM advisory service is designed to help protect workers  and  the people around them which also includes the general public, when projects interfere with everyday life. Here at Safe-T-First we deliver CDM services that conform to the latest revision of the regulations,  which came into force in the UK on 6 April 2015. Our CDM advisor service, will assist with the design stage, audits, site inspections and assist with compiling the health and safety file.
