Health and Safety Policies

Fire Risk Assessments

Controlling fire risks is an important part of managing a business or property. In order to be able to protect against the risks of fire, the first step is to identify these risks and this is where a fire risk assessment comes in. A legal demand for all ‘non-domestic’ premises, fire risk assessments (or FRAs) are a snapshot of how protected any given property is to ensure the safety of its occupants in the event of a fire.

CHAS/Construction Line Applications

CHAS is a Health and Safety Accreditation Scheme which allows Local Authorities and other organisations to determine that your business meets the minimum standard required under the scheme. The main purpose of the scheme is to avoid repeat applications by Suppliers and Contractors to become approved as Local Authority suppliers and to improve Health and Safety in small and medium-sized businesses.

ISO14001/45001 Implementation

Covering ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management). Helping you protect your environment and reputation. It is often more efficient to combine the two systems (EMS and OHSMS) into one, sharing the common clauses and procedures. Competent Person Services

Quite simply, it is a requirement of the Health & Safety at Work Regulations to appoint someone with the necessary training, experience and knowledge to help you manage health and safety within your organisation. In addition to the legal requirements, you may have been asked to provide evidence of your competent person as part of the tender process. Risk Assessments

Method Statements

More and more installers are being asked by their clients to produce a method statement as part of their Health and Safety policy or for larger projects, under the CDM Regulations. A Method Statement is a document detailing how a particular process will be carried out. It should detail the possible dangers or risks associated with your particular part of the project and the methods of control to be established, to show how the work will be managed safely. COSHH Assessments

In a COSHH assessment from Safe-T-First, we will identify and control hazardous materials and comply with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) requirements. Every year, thousands of workers are made ill by hazardous substances, contracting lung disease, such as asthma, cancer and skin disease, such as dermatitis. Health problems caused by substances used at work are preventable. The COSHH Regulations 2002 place a duty on all employers to control hazardous substances in the workplace so that they do not cause ill health. CDM Services

The Construction, Design and Management (CDM) Regulations are set out by a HSE (Health and Safety Executive) with the aim to help improve health and safety in the industry. Our CDM advisory service is designed to help protect workers  and  the people around them which also includes the general public, when projects interfere with everyday life. Here at Safe-T-First we deliver CDM services that conform to the latest revision of the regulations,  which came into force in the UK on 6 April 2015. Our CDM advisor service, will assist with the design stage, audits, site inspections and assist with compiling the health and safety file.
